Mastercraft Construction were pleased to be engaged for a full renovation to this old original home in Thornbury including an open plan seamless extension to the rear of the home utilising the properties northerly facing rear yard. To suit the slope of the land the extension was built with a 2.7 metre high ceiling compared to the original homes 3.3 ceilings, creating a split level design
The owners wanted to keep this beautiful old home rather than knock down and rebuild, bringing back to life this lovely old Edwardian (also known as Federation) period home with modern features throughout.
Some of the renovation work to the original home included new flooring, corrugated colorbond roofing, weatherboard cladding, plastering, re wiring, plumbing, insulation and new double glazed windows to meet energy requirements.

Flat roof extension containing a laundry and toilet that needed to be demolished to make way for the new extension.
New timber sub floor has been installed ready for framing

Framing for the extension has been completed, including exposed eave tails etc for a seemless blend between new and old.
Front verandah needed to be rebuilt.
Insulation installed ready for plastering.
